Manaus is...

Around 2PM today the last of our groups arrived at the beautiful Hotel Tropical in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Everyone arrived safe and sound. Meanwhile, Kevin Dake (our disciplinarian) had a "fun" day sitting inside with several students who had "earned" detention by missing too many rehearsals.

And now a word from our guest blogger, Tim Zinger:
Well hello. Today was a blast. Woke up at 9:00, had a great breakfast. We had frash made omelets, fruits (the pineapple is great!), and a ton of other food (some i ate not even knowing what it was). Then we swam and chilled for the whole day by the pools. Tonight we had a dinner buffet that was awesome! Again, I don't know what I ate but it was good! The dessert was extra good. We did a little kareokee tonight and now we are just lazin. I am too tired to type anymore so have a great night!

As Tim said, it was all about the food and the swimming and lots of walking (this place is huge) and the fun. That's it really. Manaus is fun!

Shawn is getting the parents together for a chaperone meeting, so we'll sign off for now. We're working on posting some photos and maybe even some video. Keep watching for more details.

I was surfing the net this morning and came across the news of your trip. It brought back fun memories of the summer of 1972 (seems like yesterday) when I was part of the Mona Shores Choir trip to Europe. I am so excited for you all and will look forward to reading of your adventures. Stay safe and have lots of fun!

Up-date from Muskegon - Day 3:

The temperature at this moment is a “balmy” 56 degrees with a low of 49 expected for tonight and a chance of thunderstorms appearing all week. We waken each morning to the sound of crows fighting over the scraps left behind from careless garbage collectors, and the neighborhood dogs barking at the work-a-day folk heading mindlessly to their jobs.

Daily life has included such stimulating activities as long overdue yard and housework, care and feeding of pets, and surfing the Internet, living vicariously on the vacation blogs of others. This evening’s dinner cuisine could include the possibility of graduation party leftovers (graciously donated by friends who ended up with more food than they could possibly eat in a year), Taco Bell (speaking of food that we really don’t know what it is!) or a bowl of cereal with entertainment provided by yesterday’s “Daily Show”.

Muskegon is really………Muskegon. More up-dates to follow.

Seriously, we wish all you a safe and exciting trip! "Sing purdy"!

Kevin Dake, A big THANK YOU for taking on the job of disciplinarian. While you are sitting there remember "Snow White
and the 7 Dwarfs of O.S.U." and all the fun they had one summer.
Have a great time and dont misplace your keys......

Brings back many memories of three years ago when I was fortunate enough to travel to Brazil with the choir. Hint- great souvenier at a shop at the hotel in Manaus (and not expensive) is the hand carved gourd with nativity inside. Enjoy your boat ride to the memorable "meeting of the waters". Obrigada for the great blog!
